This design is taken from an old magazine. It called for four colours of wool, but i decided to go with a multicolour crochet thread to make my work easier. The instructions below also for multicolour thread.
Starting at bottom, ch 2
1) 5 hdc in first ch
2) 2 hdc in each hdc around
3) 2 hdc in each hdc around-20 hdc
4) (hdc in next hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc) 10 times
5) hdc in each of 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, 10 times- 40 hdc
6) hdc in each of 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, 10 times- 50 hdc
7) hdc in each of 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, 10 times- 60 hdc
8) hdc in each of 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, 10 times- 70 hdc
9) hdc in each of 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, 10 times- 80 hdc
10)hdc in every hdc, sl st in first hdc of the round
11)ch 2 for first hdc, hdc in each hdc, sl st in first st.
12-29) Repeat round 11
30) ch 4, sk 1 st, dc in next st, * ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc in next st, repeat from * around, end ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch of ch 4. End off.
Drawstrings - Make 2
With three pieces of thread, ch 70. End off. Repeat from the second one.
Pass the drawstring through round 30 and sew ends of the drawstring together securely. Beginning and ending at opposite sides of bag, repeat with 2nd drawstring.

Really cute pattern.
How do you make that thread self line like that? Looks so pretty :)
thanks..since we repeat the same line about 20 times, the colour automatically gets to that design.
Nice pattern! What is hdc? and how to read the pattern? Any dummies guide you reccommend?
